Meeeeeenie Mouse

So here in 4 days Caelyn Jean will be 2 years old. That means there are alot of new and exciting things to happen this next year, the most exciting being on September 7th she will start preschool!
This past weekend we help her family party because we will be at the lake this coming weekend to celebrate, Grandma (my mom), daddy, and Caelyn's birthday. The theme of her party was Minnie Mouse. Over the summer she really fell in love with Minnie. She sits and watched her in awe when she is on the Playhouse Disney show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. So to me it was a given that her second birthday should be Minnie Mouse.
While Caelyn would tell you it was her birthday party and be very excited about it, the minute the party started, she shut down. She basically just was "there" and really didn't know what to think about the entire thing. One guest in particulas she kept watching, like she was waiting for them to do something. She just was not too sure of this person.
She wouldn't even blow out her candles, which I know she can do. I was actually expecting her to sing herself happy birthday as she had been doing it all week. But the silly girl, didn't say a word the entire time (and for those who know her, know that is not true. She is a talker).
She did not have any problems with the after part clean up though.

Projects: Felt Food

All the rage is felt food. Haha, I just had to say that but it is. It is more realistic then the plastic stuff, it is eco-friendly, and the big WOW is you can throw it in the washer on delicate and line dry it. Well, my girls love it. They can't get enough of the ones they already have (thank you Aunt Lisa). They actually play with the felt food more than the plastic. So far they girls have a piece of chocolate cake, a cupcake, butterfly sugar cookie, round sugar cookie, a donut, bacon, a sunny side up egg, 2 pancakes, toast with jelly, a ham sandwich (2 pieces of bread, lettuce, cheese, & ham) chips, and strawberries (for give me Aunt Lisa if I for got something). Aunt Lisa made everything but the sandwich, strawberries, and chips. But for Easter their baskets are going to be full of food. I decided to slowly start making and replacing the plastic with felt food. Since I have been working I have had some down time at the office so I was able to take some sewing supplies and make the girls some felt food.

Sneak Peak: My projects

Lately I have been working on some projects for the girls. Some will be making their debut in their Easter baskets, and some they will be wearing for Easter. But I wanted to give you a small sneak peak of one of my many projects I have been working on .

We are having a party...

so things are getting done around the house. It's it how it always goes..lol. So I showed you the patio in this post. Well now we (or really Dave) have been working on refinishing the patio furniture we got from my parents. They purchased it back in 2004 for our engagement party and well the pieces we have were only used then. My parents took the couch and 2 rocking chairs to the lake and use them on their deck (which I would really like those pieces but beggars can't be choosers right). So we got the table 5 chairs and the swing. Well really we don't have a table anymore cause hooligans (man don't I sound old there) dumbed our table one night and broke the glass as well as bent the frame so it does need to be replaced.

Since the furniture hadn't been used in over 5 years, there was a lot of rust on the pieces. Dave sanded them and primed them up with something to stop the rusting (car grade of course..lol) and then because I really wanted black furniture, that is what he painted them. The next step that will probably not happen prior to the party is to recover the cushions. I have some flower pots that I painted earlier this spring in red, orange, and yellow. I would love to find something in stripes or circles in these colors. I also have found a really easy way to make a slip cover for the cushions so you can unzip them and throw them in the washer, how great is that?

Everything is slowly coming together but I guess that is like anyone in a house, baby steps. My dad is going to help with a few things that need to also just get done (not just because we are having Caelyn's party here). I have the office 99.9% done to the way I like it, the TV room is only missing a bookshelf, the dining room is complete (or will be 100% when my Aunt Lisa comes in town for the party to help cover the dining room chairs). Just normal household things that need to be done, but I am super excited to be getting things in better order around the household. It feels like a never ending battle.
