Bath Time

We were able to give Caelyn her first bath the other night. It was a success with lots of screaming. She didn't mind sitting in the warm water but she didn't like being rubbed on with the soap. So while getting wet she was fine, then she screamed the entire cleaning process, then she was content getting all the soap off. Chloe of course helped and this time we didn't lose a camera to the infant tub. For those of you who don't know (which is most) when we gave Chloe her first bath, we lost a camera in the depths of the infant tub. We were taking pictures and recording it like any good first time parents would and well, when we moved to dry her off and get her dressed we forgot about the camera. Well, mix a hyper pup into the equation and bam, camera gets knocked into the tub. It was a very sad day for me. I don't have any pictures of Chloe getting her first bath. I think she was almost a year before we replaced the camera to be able to take pictures of her in a bath. So we learned our lesson and put Caelyn on the kitchen counter to give her the bath.

My mom of 2 must haves....

The Joovy Ultralight Stroller (thank you Aunt Cindy!!)and the Moby Wrap. I really love them both, I can't say which I love more because they both are of equal value at this point. I read the recommendation from Sherry on the Moby wrap( I linked her review) and then Cheryl pointed me in the direction of getting one cheaper via a website she belongs to. Thanks Cheryl!!
So here is what I love about it, it hasn't hurt my back yet. Now, Caelyn is only about 7 lbs but with my back issues, 7 lbs is a huge deal sometimes to me. I love that the straps can be made wide to cover my entire shoulder to help with the weight as well as I can get it wrapped around my lower back for added support. I had/have a Baby Bjorn (which I still have not received back from the person I lent it too) that was alright. It was great with Chloe cause of the summer months it was breathable for her and I, but I would start to get sore in my lower back with carrying her. So far so good with this one. It also is alot more versatile than the Bjorn carrier. There are 10 different ways you can wear the Moby Wrap. I have only tried 2 of them, but I plan on using them all. I first saw them at Cotton Babies here in St. Louis but I was pregnant when I tried it out (and it was with a baby doll). It wasn't bad with being pregnant and I really liked it then, but I wasn't really in the mood to spend 40 bucks on it. Well, because of the lovely Cheryl I was able to steal it for 32. And I am so happy I did.

Here is what I see when I look down.

Here is a peak at Caelyn.

And this is "kinda" what it would look like if you just were looking at us.

The second thing I love is my new ultra light Joovy Caboose. Chloe actually loves it too. I didn't know how she was going to be with the stroller because lately she hasn't really wanted to sit in a stroller which is why I opted for a sit and stand. Well she loves it. For the first few days it was in the house and she would just sit on it or push it around, or even better asked to be pushed in it. Then we took it for the first outing. My mom and I took it to my
first post pregnancy appointment. Well it was very easy to use, so my mom said. She was able to pick it up (it is only 20 lbs for a double stroller the lightest out there) and unfold it. Chloe Jumped right in the back and we got Caelyn situated in the front with her car seat. I don't have pictures of the girls in the stroller yet, it's on my to do list. But here is the one I have (it is called Sunset) and a picture from the Joovy website to show you how Caelyn and Chloe would fit on the stroller.

Swim Class part 2.

Friday we started swim class again. But this time we also had Chloe's friend Connor and his daddy Jeff join us. We bought Connor swim lessons for his birthday. I think they had fun. Chloe's teacher Ms. Megan is actually a mom to Ali, who is in Chloe's preschool class. Ali has a 2 month old little brother as well. Chloe remembered pretty quick some of the things from last session. But she just loves to be in the water. Connor loved it too and will get the hang of everything I am sure.

Ms Megan talking to Chloe, Connor and the Dads.

Practicing the "safe" way to get in the pool.

Chloe always loves dumping water on daddy.

I leave you with a video of Chloe and Connor working on their kicking. Chloe is doing it all by herself while Connor is getting help from his dad, Jeff.

Chloe and feeding time

Chloe has been very interested in how Caelyn gets fed. I think we have gone over it every feeding thus far. She now knows mommy makes milk for Caelyn. Too freaking cute if you ask me. But I have been blessed this time around with not having issues with breastfeeding and actually have an abundance to already start building a supply for down the road (you know date nights!). I already (remember I have only been home since Friday evening) 10 ounces in the freezer and 2 bottles in the fridge. The fridge bottles are for Dave so he gets his bonding time.

Well this morning Chloe actually asked to feed Caelyn. So since I had a bottle I figured why not. I was going to express after the morning feeding for supply anyway so I didn't think it would hurt. Well, Chloe loved it. Here are pictures from her feeding Caelyn.

Oh and look here.

We are proud to introduce....

Caelyn Jean Wasem

6 lbs 12 oz

20 inches long

7:43 am via c-section

Our little girl was finally born today. She is perfect just like Chloe was/is. Everything is going great. I am recovering very well (one major thing I have to do is pass gas and well to be gross, I have started that already! YEAH!). I am sore but I only feel bruised, and well my butt hurts like heck from the hospital bed. I have been up and walking already this evening.

When I get home and have time, I will post a picture of Dave when he was born because Caelyn is a mirror image of him (but female.lol). She has a head full of blond hair and it is actually wavy. She is so darn cute. She is very good (knock on wood). Feeding is going great compared to the battle with Chloe. It is a learning experience again for me but we are winning it. She is a feeding champ so far. It is late, she is sleeping so I want to catch some zzz. But I also wanted to let everyone know she is here.

Since summer is considered over (well it was over when I was a kid after Labor Day cause we would start school the next day), I figured I would highlight with some pictures from the summer.

Last weekend as a Family of 3

This weekend we spent the time just being the three of us as much as we could. We slept in everyday, stayed up late every night, watched cartoons, played at the park, in the hose, and even went to a small fair to ride rides. It was a fun weekend for all of us since life will be adding one more on Wednesday.

Not the greatest picture, but even mommy rode the ferris wheel with Chloe.
