Toddler Talk Thursday

I am joining in this week in the adventures of a weekly blog post that is hosted by My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom, Family and Life in Las Vegas, and Crazy about my Baybah.

Toddler Talk Thursday was created by these wonderful ladies as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys, or products. It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic is different and they invite you to link up and share your weekly toddler talk.

This Week's Topic: How do you teach your child the Alphabet or Numbers?

Chloe and Caelyn are extremely hands on girls. When it comes to the ABC's the girls learned them the "traditional" way of singing the Alphabet song, but also the letters would be pointed out to them and learning experiences were created.

For numbers, we counted everything with a one to one correlation. We would start at home counting animals, socks, dolls, anything we could. And when we are out (thanks to an aunt) we even counted sugar packets. Since Chloe is 5 and will be in Kindergarten next year, we have even taken the one to one correlation further into helping her add and subtract. We really try to use everyday things to help the girl relate to and turn them into learning experiences.

Topic suggestion - Chores, what do you have your kids do or what age do you feel chores can start?

1) The Love I know their love for me is true, no matter how silly, how crazy, how "mean", how loving, etc. they still love me.

2) The snuggles Whether is it them climbing in bed to wake me up (which tends to happen all the time) or we are watching a movie I just love when they come up and move my arm so it is holding them. The older they get the more far and few they become but I love them, especially the unexpected ones.

3) Personality I love seeing the characteristics, good or bad, they got from me. While I know I am in trouble in the teen years, I am willing to say "Bring it on."

4). Absolute Joy They fill me with so much joy and accomplishment. Knowing that I am helping them develop into beautiful little girls is amazing to me.

5) Adventure Everyday I wake up I know it ill be a new adventure. Whether it is the girls playing Rapunzel or playing house it will be an awesome adventure that I get to experience with them. I also know that in this adventure I will embarrass them, support them, mold them, and help them grow.

Wordless Wednesday: Daddy's Girl

Spring Dance Recital

Saturday April 30 Chloe had her first official (her Winter one didn't get to be on a stage like this one) recital. She goes to High Steps Dance Company at Jefferson College. The recital was held in their Fine Arts Theater. Chloe told me she loved being on stage. The dance school did two shows, an afternoon and evening show. I was thankful for that because Dave had to work so he was at least able to see the evening show (he unfortunately missed the winter one).

Chloe's tap dance was done to the song Easter Parade (originally sung by Bing Crosby). It was very cute. All the little girls were in their Easter dresses and they got to decorate (or their mom's did) an Easter Bonnet. The ballet dance they did was to the Little Mermaid Song Under the Sea. The girls look all cute in their tutus and flower clips.
