Learning as we go

Okay, so all the mom's out there will probably laugh and maybe say, been there done that. I knew my kid would get into everything, little did I know that I would have to lock down the bathroom. I don't own much "girly" stuff, but for some reason she finds it. I own ONE, just one bottle for finger nail polish. I personally never apply it. I always take it with me when (should I say if) I get a pedicure. Well, Chloe found it. I know she has watched my mom paint her fingers and toes (have you figured out where this is going yet). And I while in Florida have painted her toe nails to look all pretty in her sandals.

So it goes like this, I pop an Elmo tape in and tell her to sit and watch it because I need to go change over the laundry. I go downstairs and change it out. I fold the yellows up, place the sheets in the dryer, and lastly start a load of Chloe's clothes. I come up the stairs and my nice clean basket of reds/pinks is all over the sitting room floor. I call her with the intentions of making her pick them up and place them in the basket but she doesn't come. I stand there listening and lets say the silence was disturbing. So I start calling her and walking down the hallway. I found her on my side of the bed (which is closest to the wall) holding my orange polish. I instantly started to freak. I took it from her and noticed her fingers were polished, then looked down to inspect the floor to find out that she actually painted her toes too.

I continue my search to find exactly where the polishing took place. My biggest fear is that she got in on the hardwood floor. I walk through the master bed room, the hallway, Chloe's room, and then head to her playroom (which is carpeting). I found nothing. I continued to look starting in the master bath. Well I found the nail salon. She had sat on the floor in the bathroom and painted her nails. But that is not all she painted. She painted the toilet set.

So the lesson I have learned from this experience is that when I go downstairs, I need to start putting the baby gate in the door jam of the playroom to trap my kid in there so I can do my cleaning. To all the mothers out there or future mothers, your bathroom and beauty supplies (and kids at times) will need to be in lock down if you are not able to watch it like a hawk. And I will repeat, since being a mother I don't do a lot of the girly things I did before, and mani's and pedi's are not my weekly routine.

I cleaned up Chloe's toes and after I got through the frustration she actually didn't do to bad of a job. I left the polish on the her toe nails. Her fingers were another story. She only got 2 nails and the rest was just a mess.
