Weekend Long Ago

When Chloe was in Florida, Dave and I went to spend the weekend with his mom, her husband, and little brother Matt. It was really nice saying that we really don't get to spend that much time with them. She lives over an hour away. I never really got to know her before Dave and I got married and we both had always felt maybe they didn't feel they needed to be apart of our lives. I have to say that it is really nice to know that his mom is trying harder to be apart of our lives. While is is still a struggle, it is comforting to know at least more is being done at this point.

They live in Hilsboro IL, which is right next to Litchfield. Their house is in the middle of farm fields so it is almost like they live on at least 200 acres. The man that owns the farm fields is very nice and lets them ride their 4-wheelers through the fields (that don't have crops) to the woods. So that was one thing Dave was really looking forward to wen we went over there. They also live only 15 minutes from a lake so before we did anything, we took their boat to the lake. They have a pontoon. And by no means is this pontoon have a motor big enough to pull Dave (about 220) and his little brother on a tube (who is about 110). It was pretty funny watching them because for some reason my husband wanted to tube with his little brother. He is weird I tell you. We didn't get off the lake until about 8 at night and I was starving by that time. So once we got back to the house the boys took off on the 4-wheelers and I sat with Robin and chatted while she cooked. It was very nice to actually just be able to sit there and talk to her about everything from Chloe, to Dave growing up, to the future. I think we ended up staying over there until midnight. I was exhausted but it was a very fun trip.

Did you go to Lake Yeager (between Hillsboro and Litchfield)? I've practically grown up there - looks like you all had a good time :)
