I passed!!!

Every woman who is pregnant takes a glucose test at 28 wks to test for Gestational Diabetes. Pretty much you go in to a lab to get blood work taken, the catch is that you have to drink this kool-aid like drink (but it is very gross) and wait an hour to have your blood drawn. The purpose is to see how your body reacts to sugar. Well, I failed mine. I was kinda shocked but not really. For about a week prior I was getting light headed and having dizzy spells. So last Thursday (yes it took that long because the stupid lab I went to didn't get my doctor my results back until the doctor's office called them the day of my appointment) I went to take my 3 hour glucose test. This test is just like the first but more extensive.

I went in after a 12 hour fast (not fun for a pregnant woman) and got my first blood draw which was a fasting draw. Then I had to drink the wonderful drink again, mind you if they hand you the drink at 12:12 they only give you 3 minutes to drink it so you can start the clock at 12:15. So I drank it down and began the wait. Finally 1:15 came around and I got my second draw, my third at 2:15, and then finally my fourth at 3:15. Let's just say it wasn't the best day for me because this entire time I could not eat. I could only have water. Needless to say at 3:45 I was at the McDonald's across the street shoveling food in my face. I mean seriously I hadn't eat since 10 pm the night before, why do this to a pregnant woman?

So today I called to get my results. I past!! I was totally relieved. No diet changes, nothing. I am sure the doctor will talk to me more next week about some things but I am not restricted, but it is not like I am just eats spoon fulls of sugar either. I think I will watch my sugar intake, good bye my once a week Sweet Tea from McDonald's, but it will be worth it.
